I run a sewing group that offers free classes to underprivileged mothers here so they can increase their income earning capacities. Each participant of our program take part in a 9-month course and graduate with their own Singer sewing machine which is paid for by profits made from the sale of items they have sewn throughout the course of their learning. We have one graduated class and a new class which has just begun their sewing journey with us.
Check out www.tiyamikesewing.com or our FB page to see the beautiful things these women have sewn. You can support them and the ongoing work of Tiyamike Sewing by buying their products either at our Namiwawa workshop (well, my garage) or at African Habitat. You will also find us at the Hillview Christmas Bazaar in November)
